The high-altitude football
controversy arose in May 2007 when FIFA introduced a temporary ban on international matches at
more than 2,500 metres (8,200 ft) above sea level, citing concerns about
players' health and the "unfair" advantage to acclimatised home
teams. The ruling meant that Bolivia, Ecuador and Colombia would be prevented from
hosting FIFA World Cup qualifiers in their own
capital cities. The ban was rescinded in May 2008.Earlier in 2007, Brazilian
club Flamengo said they would not play again at altitude after several of their
players needed oxygen during a game against Bolivian team Real Potosi, held at
nearly 4,000m (13,120ft).
Fifa said the decision was made
because of concerns over players' health and possible distortion of competition.
But the thing is it (high altitude football) is still played in the places
of Nepal and they(the people over here are still unknown about
the health issues they will be facing in near future.
Good going bro :) keep it up! Keep writing :)
